New Fire Station - Ground Breaking Ceremony

The Olympia Fire Department broke ground on a new fire station at 3525 Stoll Road, off Lilly Road between Martin Way and Pacific today, October 22, 2009. Approximately 50 people including neighbors, city employees, representatives from surrounding fire departments, and retired Olympia firefighters attended the event. All seven city council members were on hand to celebrate and turn the ceremonial first shovels full of dirt on the project. Funding for the construction of the fire station was approved by voters in 2008. The station is expected to be open by April of 2011. This new fire station located near Providence St. Peter Hospital will be the fourth fire station serving the City of Olympia.
