Espresso Stand Burglary Arrests

Over the course of the last several days, several espresso businesses in Olympia and Tumwater have been victimized by burglars during the night. Over the weekend the Tumwater Police Department released surveillance footage of a burglary that occurred in Tumwater where two suspects in one of the burglaries were caught by security cameras. Officers in all local jurisdictions began to focus on patrolling the area of espresso businesses overnight.

On December 11, 2017 at about 4:30 a.m. an alert Olympia Police Sergeant observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of Perfect Cup Espresso in the 2700 Block of Pacific Avenue. The officer observed cutting tools and a pair of bolt cutters inside the vehicle. Officers almost immediately located two subjects on foot nearby who were associated with the vehicle. One of the men had a realistic CO2 pistol tucked into his waistband. As the investigation continued additional officers checked other espresso businesses nearby and found that they had been burglarized. Both of the subjects contacted are believed to be those on the footage released by Tumwater Police. Tumwater Police responded to assist with the investigation, in what is now a joint investigation with Olympia Police.

Robert Miller, age 28, from Tacoma and Joseph Moe, age 29, also from Tacoma, were arrested for Burglary in the 1st degree. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information on these crimes should contact the Olympia Police Department Detective Division at 360.753.8300.
