Beyond Flooding: Climate Conversations

Warming Waters and Marine Water Quality Lecture

  • Wednesday, October 17
  • 6:30 – 8 p.m.
  • Olympia City Hall Council Chambers
  • 601 4th Ave. E, Olympia

Puget Sound hosts a diverse collection of phytoplankton, which occur naturally in our waters. With changing water temperatures, phytoplankton populations explode into what are referred to as “blooms”. Dr. Christopher Krembs of Washington State Department of Ecology, and Eyes over Puget Sound program’s lead scientist, will discuss recent climate impacts and his latest water quality findings for Puget Sound. He will explore how climate change affects the lower food web of Puget Sound, talk about how climate affects water quality especially in the dry summer months, and how we magnify these conditions.
