Olympia Firefighters responded to a reported fire near the 200 block of San Mar Drive NE. Neighbors called 911 to report smoke coming out of the eves of their neighbor’s home. First arriving units reported that there was a structure fire in the attic of the home
Firefighters immediately pulled several lines and made their way into the structure to locate the origin of the fire. Crews were also sent to the roof to make access to the attic space to assist with extinguishment.
Olympia Fire Department responded with three engines, one ladder truck, one medic unit, one aid car, and one command units. There was also an engine and a command unit from Lacey Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and currently two Fire Investigators with Olympia Fire Department are on the scene. Damage estimated at $125,000.
Residents were not home during the time of the fire. Neighbors reported the possibility of the family dog being trapped in the home. Firefighters quickly found the dog and brought her out safely to the owners with no injuries. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.
Olympia Fire Department was able to respond quickly to the scene due to good Samaritans calling 911 immediately upon noticing there was a problem.
