Downtown Construction Pile-driving Begins

Pile-driving activity will begin on or around September 13, 2018 at 210 State Street in preparation for a new project known as “Laurana”, a mixed-use project featuring retail, a restaurant and market rate apartment housing. The project includes a combination of wood and steel piles, with 234 wood piles being driven which are non-treated wood driven to an approximate depth of 38 feet. There are 110 steel piles being driven to a depth of 83 feet.

The pile-driving will create noise in areas surrounding the property. There may also be occasional traffic disruptions as construction equipment stages for off-loading onto the site. Pile-driving work may take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday; all other construction activity is allowed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.  The contractor will have appropriate staff on site to monitor and address all construction activity and any concerns related to public safety and the flow of traffic and pedestrians in the area, directional signage may also be installed in the area to ensure safe passage around the site.
