Chip Seal Pavement Markings

On Monday, August 28 (weather permitting), the City’s contractor will begin applying pavement markings to the newly chip sealed streets in Olympia.  Pavement markings include lane lines, crosswalks, stop bars, turn arrows, and other typical street markings. It is anticipated that installation of the markings will last until Thursday for the streets listed below. In order to reduce traffic impacts, this work will take place during the evening and nighttime hours. The pavement marking schedule is shown below:

August 28 - 31 (weather dependent)

  • 14th Avenue, Walnut Street and State Avenue (evening hours – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • Cooper Pt Road-Auto Mall Drive (night work – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.)

Possible Impacts

Installation of pavement markings will affect traffic flow and access to businesses and residents in the areas. Travel lanes will be restricted and motorists should expect delays. Traffic control & flaggers will direct vehicles and pedestrians through the work areas.
