Public Invited to Provide Comment on Public Art Jury

Music Out Loud Semi-Finalists to Present Design Proposals on August 1

The City of Olympia is seeking to commission mosaic designs to define three sidewalk locations in downtown Olympia in order to recognize three Olympia music legends, now deceased.  The music nodes will be stand-alone installations that host summer acoustic performances.  6 local artists have been selected to submit designs that celebrate the life and work of the music legacies (as determined by a former process).

Presentations will begin at 6pm, Tuesday, August 1 in Room 100 of The Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St, NW. Following both presentations for each musical legacy, the public will have the opportunity to provide comment to the jury in advance of their deliberation.  The jury’s recommendation will be presented to the Olympia Arts Commission at their regular meeting at 6pm on August 10 in Room 112 of Olympia City Hall, 604 E 4th Avenue, and City Council for final approval at their September 12 meeting.
