Small Diameter Water Pipe Replacement

Annual Program to Replace Old Water Pipes Begins July 6

The City’s annual small diameter water pipe replacement work is scheduled to begin July 6 and be completed in October. This year the project will replace about 3,900 feet of old water pipes in various locations on the east side of Olympia. Crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Streets are expected to remain open during construction, though one lane may close for short durations during certain work. Flaggers will direct traffic at these times.

Over time the water pipes that bring drinking water to homes and businesses deteriorate and need replacement. Replacing these pipes will reduce maintenance and pipeline breaks and increase water system reliability.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work to improve our water system infrastructure.
