Construction Begins on Artesian Commons Restroom Project
Beginning Monday, June 12, 2017, the City's contractor, J.E. Bauer LLC., will start construction of the Artesian Commons Restroom Project in downtown Olympia. The City is purchasing a new permanent public restroom to replace the existing temporary sani-can at the Artesian Commons. It will be installed at the same location at the Artesian Commons as the temporary sani-can, and will be accessed from 4th Avenue.
The new restroom should be setup and ready for business by the end of July, 2017, and will be available to the public 24 hours a day. The existing sani-can will be relocated to the south end of the Artesian Commons and will remain open 24/7.
The adjacent sidewalk on 4th Avenue will be temporarily closed to pedestrian traffic to allow the contractor to complete the work. During this time the Artesian Commons will not be accessible from 4th Avenue, however, the park will remain open with access from the southern entrance.
The public will still have access to the Artesian well from the Jefferson Street side.
Construction work should not impact any scheduled skateboard or concert activities at the Artesian Commons.
