Fix a Leak Week

Be a Household Leak Detector

March 18-24 is Fix a Leak Week! Each March, the City of Olympia does our part by reminding Olympians to check their household fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks. The average household’s leaks can account for more than 10,000 gallons of water wasted every year – enough water to wash 270 loads of laundry!

Ten percent of homes have leaks that waste 90 gallons of water or more per day. In most cases, common household leaks are easy to correct. Keep your home leak-free by repairing dripping faucets, worn toilet flappers and leaky showerheads.

Fix a Leak Week is an initiative of the Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense Partnership Program. Learn how to find and fix leaks to reduce your water waste – visit olympiawa.gov/waterwise for more information. Leaks can run, but they can’t hide!
