Committee forum to focus on community engagement process on implementing police-worn body cameras
The Ad Hoc Committee on Police and Community Relations will hold its final community forum Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at City Hall at 5:00 p.m.  The forum will focus primarily on community input for a preferred process when implementing police-worn body cameras.

The Olympia City Council tasked a group of citizen advisors with engaging the community on how the Olympia Police can better serve the public, especially minority and people who do not often have the chance to be heard.  The group has previously held forums on Oct. 10, primarily focused on the African-American community, on Nov. 5, focused primarily on the Latino-Hispanic Community, Dec. 7, primarily focused on the social services community, and on Jan. 21, primarily focused on youth.

The Feb. 18 forum is open to all community members to share thoughts about how the City of Olympia can best engage the public when implementing police-worn body cameras.  Information about the committee and upcoming meetings can be found on the City of Olympia’s website at http://olympiawa.gov/city-government/advisory-committees/police-relations-committee.aspx.
