Joint Meeting to Discuss Sea Level Rise Response Planning

A joint meeting of the Olympia City Council, the Port of Olympia commission and the LOTT Clean Water Alliance Board of Directors is scheduled for Wednesday January 31, 2018 in the Olympia City Hall Council Chambers from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Topics will include:

  • Sea Level Rise response plan project status
  • Preliminary results of a vulnerability and risk assessment
  • Preliminary response strategies

This workshop is an opportunity for discussion among elected officials and leadership staff from the City, Port and LOTT. Due to time constraints, public comment will be limited to written form. A companion Open House and Community Workshop was held on January 18, 2018. Approximately 130 community members attended the event and provided input through a comment and question period and through participation in four workshop activities. A Sea Level Rise survey is currently available at olympiawa.gov/sealevelrise.

The City, Port and LOTT are working together to create a response plan to protect Downtown Olympia from the impacts of sea level rise. The planning effort builds on steps that have already been taken to prepare for sea level rise. Additional project information can be found at olympiawa.gov/sealevelrise.

If you need special accommodations to participate, please contact Susan Clark at 360.753.8321 at least 48 hours in advance.
