Hand Hygiene (Germbuster) information from Thurston County

In local health emergencies, the Thurston County Public Health Department is the lead agency. They are the experts on health issues in our County and are in contact with appropriate state and federal agencies.

The City of Olympia, through its Emergency Management Department, works closely with the County Public Health Department and local/state emergency management offices in a coordinated monitoring and response effort.

In emergency situations, Olympia's Emergency Management Department works to make sure City departments and staff - especially fire, medic and police responders - react in the most responsible manner consistent with our surrounding communities, region, state and nation.

Are you prepared?

Whether natural or human-caused, disasters and emergencies can happen without warning. The services and businesses you rely on may be delayed or unavailable for up to 72 hours (3 days) or even longer during and after a major event.

Do you have enough water, food, clothing, and health supplies to be self-sufficient? What about your neighbors?

Families may be separated with parents at work and children at school. How will you communicate? Where will you meet? How will out-of-the-area family and friends reach you?

If you need to immediately evacuate the area, where will you go? How will you get there? Do you have access to emergency cash if your bank is closed and ATMs are not functioning?

The City of Olympia urges you to BE READY BEFORE AN EMERGENCY STRIKES. Community Preparation (C-Prep) training is offered by the Olympia Fire Department for City of Olympia neighborhoods. Call 360-753-8348 for information.
