Olympia was one of the first local jurisdictions in the United States to develop a plan for responding to climate change.  In 2008, Olympia reported municipal greenhouse gas emissions using the protocols from the 2005 baseline emissions report.  This report documents greenhouse gas emissions from municipal operations including; buildings, fleet vehicles, street lighting, water and wastewater, and solid waste.  It also recommends new emissions targets for Olympia.
