Municipal Court
The Olympia Municipal Court is a court of limited jurisdiction. The Municipal Court Judge is authorized by Washington State Statute to preside over the following types of cases: non-traffic infractions, traffic infractions, criminal misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors, and orders for protection for victims of domestic violence. The Municipal Court schedules arraignments, pre-trial hearings, non-jury and jury trials, sentencings, reviews, etc. The Municipal Court coordinates related services including legal representation for indigent persons, probation, and interpreter services.
Jurisdiction
If you received a citation issued by the City of Olympia Police Department, Code Enforcement Officer, or Animal Services for a misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor criminal offense, traffic infraction or code violation that occurred in the city limits, your ticket will be filed in the Olympia Municipal Court. Court appearances are held in the Council Chambers building located at City Hall at 900 Plum Street. The administrative office of Olympia Municipal Court is located at 909 8th Avenue SE.
