Employment Benefits

The City of Olympia is a member of the Association of Washington Cities Benefits Trust. Through the Trust, the City offers several benefit options to employees and their dependents, including domestic partners.

Olympia and AWC both have a strong commitment to promoting a healthy worforce.

Employees have their choice from two or more medical and dental packages depending upon their representation status. Vision hardware and orthodontic coverage is available with certain packages. Life insurance and long term disability insurance is also provided with buy-up options. Independent, non-union employees are also eligible to participate in the City's Section 125 medical and child care reimbursement programs. Child Care Referral and Employee Assistance Programs are also available.

All employees are required by law to participate in the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems' programs and have the option to participate in the ICMA 457 Deferred Compensation Program.
