Sunrise Park was designed in conjunction with neighbors of the park and the Westside Neighborhood Association in 1991-1992. The park was opened and dedicated in 1995. Sunrise Park is home to one of two Community Gardens hosted at City of Olympia Parks. The garden was original built in 2007 through a partnership with GRuB, Together!, and the USDA. In 2011, City of Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation took over management of the Sunrise Community Garden from GRuB and constructed 55 upgraded garden plots and a state of the art compost structure, a covered seating area and new tool shed. The new Sunrise Community Garden was completed in March of 2012. Brand new playground was installed at the park in 2015.
