Park Rules & Regulations

 Violation Constitutes Misdemeanor If Anyone:

  • Posts signs of any kind for commercial advertising in a City park without written consent from the Parks, Arts & Recreation Department
  • Removes, destroys or damages any shrubs, structures or property belonging to the park
  • Permits any animal to run at large, without a restraining device or allowing entrance to any lake, pond, fountain or stream therein
  • Purposely teases, molests, annoys, disturbs, injures or feeds any animal, bird, fowl or fish within a park
  • Shoots any firearm, bb gun, slingshot, bow and arrow, air gun or explodes any fireworks or explosives of any kind within a park
  • Holds, operates or conducts a circus, carnival or traveling exhibition in any Olympia park
  • Sells food, refreshments of merchandise within a park without a permit or concession contract with the Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation Department
  • Consumes alcohol within any park or parkway
  • Deposits household or commercial garbage or refuse of any kind within a City park, parkway or other City facilities
  • Conducts or holds any religious or political meeting or other assemblies within a park without first obtaining a written permit from the Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation Department
  • Operates a motor vehicle or rides a horse or pony through any park except along and upon the park drives, parkways or park boulevards
  • Rides or operates any bicycle or tricycle over or through any park except along and upon the park drives, parkways, park boulevards or designated bicycle lanes
  • Camps or stays overnight in a recreation vehicle within any park or within any public parking lot adjacent to a park except at places set aside for such purposes
  • Practices any sports or hurls/propels any airborne objects or other missiles, except at places set aside for such purposes
  • Operates any motor vehicle for the purpose of testing or ascertaining its fitness for service, along or upon any park drive, parkway, boulevard or designated bicycle lanes
  • Engages in or conducts any trials or competitions for speed, endurance or hill climbing involving any vehicle, boat, aircraft or animal in any park
  • Builds any fires in any park except in areas designated by the Parks, Arts & Recreation Department and so designated by signs
  • Remains in the park after the posted closing time
  • Aids and abets the violation by another person or who procures or hires that person to violate any of the provisions listed above is guilty in the same degree as the perpetrator of such offense
  • Solicit or conduct fundraising events in any park without prior approval from the Parks, Arts & Recreation Department
Exceptions to the Rules and Regulations by permit of designation may be made at the discretion of the Director of the Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation Department or designated personnel.

Rules and Regulations for the safe operation and maintenance of any City park, facility or program are authorized at the discretion of the Director of the Olympia Parks, Arts & Recreation Department or designated personnel.
