If you witness localized flooding, call City of Olympia Public Works dispatch before it becomes an emergency at 360.753.8333, Option 0.  Please be aware that crews are working but they must prioritize, with health and safety flooding taking first priority. Rake a Drain - You Can Help Prevent Flooding

Image of raking a drainCity crews work to keep storm drains clear, but with approximately 10,000 drains in Olympia, we could use your help! Leaves, sand and other debris can clog storm drains and cause local flooding. 

  • If minor flooding occurs, use a garden rake or shovel and remove the leaves from the storm drain and dispose of them. 
  • Remember, safety first - if you feel it is unsafe, or flooding is severe, contact Public Works emergency dispatch for assistance at 360.753.8333, Option 0.  Reminder ... it is illegal to rake yard and leaf debris into the street. Consider composting leaves and other organic material.
