Education & Action - Be Nice to Budd
Take the "Be Nice to Budd" pledge. If everyone committed to making a few minor changes in their daily routines, our combined efforts would keep Budd Inlet clean for the fish, seals, birds, and people to enjoy. You can make a difference.
- Walk, bike, or bus around town - leave your vehicle at home.
- Use alternatives to chemical pesticides.
- Use natural, organic, or slow-release fertilizers.
- Pick up pet waste when out on a walk and in your yard - pet waste is unhealthy for humans and aquatic life. One dog poop contains enough harmful bacteria to close 15 acres of shellfish beds!
- Plant native shrubs and trees - replacing grass with native plants helps rainwater soak into the ground as well as providing habitat for wildlife.
Show your commitment to personal actions that contribute to water clean with a beautiful "We're All Salmon Stewards" lawn sign. For a free lawn sign contact staff member Patricia Pyle 360.570.5841, or send an publicworks@ci.olympia.wa.us.
