Residential Garbage, Recycling & Organics

City of Olympia residential garbage and recycling are collected Tuesday through Friday on alternate weeks; organics is collected on Mondays. We collect Monday through Friday all year long - even on holidays. If your collection day falls on a holiday, we may come earlier on that day than normal, so be sure to have your cart out by 6:00 a.m. on your regular collection day.

Missed Pick-up?

If you believe your cart was missed, call Utility Billing at 360.753.8340, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. We ask that you wait until after 2:00 p.m. to call, as sometimes routes change and your pick-up may be later than normal.

Reading the Pick-up Schedule:

Check the calendar below for the current month/day. The background color indicates which cart you should set out at the curb. 

• Garbage week is gray
• Recycling week is blue
• Organics every-other-Monday: The Monday that we empty your organics cart is determined by your garbage/recycle pick-up day. 
  • Tuesday and Wednesday pick-ups are noted with a green background.
  • Thursday and Friday pick-ups are noted with a white background.  

Our crews collect on all holidays.
