Our crews collect on all holidays. Remember to always have your cart out by 6:00 a.m.

Residential garbage and recycling is picked up on alternate weeks

Garbage and recycling are collected Tuesday through Friday; Organics are collected on Mondays. We collect Monday through Friday all year long - even on holidays. If your collection day falls on a holiday, we may come earlier than normal, so be sure to have your cart out by 6:00 a.m. If you believe your cart was missed, we ask that you wait until after 2 p.m. to call, as sometimes routes change and your pick-up may be later than normal.

2009 Calendar:

The 2009 printer friendly calendar is available online. Calendars were mailed in December. If you need a copy as you misplaced yours, email us at publicworks@ci.olympia.wa.us. Be sure to provide your complete mailing address.

Reading the Calendar:

To read the calendar, just match the date to the color coding.

  • Garbage week is gray
  • Recycling week is yellow
  • Organics every other Monday: The Monday that we empty your organics cart is determined by your pick-up day.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday pick-ups are noted with a green background.
  • Thursday and Friday pick-ups are noted with a white background.
