The City of Olympia works with our Commercial, Industrial, Governmental and Institutional customers to help them save water, and money too! We offer several programs, including rebates for water saving technology, and commercial irrigation check-ups.

Olympia has only a few industrial customers. Commercial customers include office buildings, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, nursing homes, places of worship, and medical and dental offices. Institutional customers include government offices, schools, and other public agencies.

Water Smart Technology:

Use water smart technology. Businesses and government offices can receive rebates when they install approved water-efficient fixtures. Through this project, Olympia businesses have received rebates for replacing water-cooled ice machines with air-cooled models, collectively saving over 2 million gallons of water every year. Water-Efficient Irrigation:

Commercial customers, apartment complexes, and government offices that use higher-than-average amounts of water in the summer can receive free irrigation system checkups from the City of Olympia. Checkups include a detailed inspection by an irrigation professional of your irrigation system and practices.

The auditor provides customers with an individualized report that includes recommendations on how to use water more efficiently while maintaining a healthy and beautiful landscape. E-mail publicworks@ci.olympia.wa.us, and be sure to include your name and address to find out if you are eligible.

Participants can also receive rebates for the purchase of water-efficient devices recommended by the auditor in their personalized report, such as updated irrigation system controllers or sprinkler heads.

High-Efficiency Toilet Program

LOTT is offering FREE high-efficiency toilets (HET) and installation to eligible commercial sewer customers.  This is a great way to save water and potentially save money on your utility bills.  Eligible customers can choose between three different tank-style toilets and one flushometer toilet - whichever best meets their needs. 

For more information, download our printer-friendly HET fact sheet.  To apply for this program, email publicworks@ci.olympia.wa.us or contact Erin Conine at 360.753.8271.  A City representative or the program plumbing contractor will visit your site to confirm eligibility. The plumbing contractor will then place the order and arrange a date for installation.  On average, it takes 30 days from application to installation. This program is subject to available funds. Program ends when funds are expended, or by December 31, 2010.
