In a recent budget survey, people in Olympia ranked walkability as a high priority. Sidewalks are important to our City. We are working together to build new sidewalks and maintain the ones we currently have.
In 2004, Olympia voters approved a 3 percent increase to the private voted utility tax (VUT) to fund parks and walking facilities. One percent, about one million dollars, of these funds are dedicated to sidewalks and neighborhood pathway projects. The sidewalks are identified in the Sidewalk Program Report. Two percent of the VUT tax per year is dedicated to Parks.
