parks arts & recreationAfter an extensive public input process that involved over 1,000 members of the public providing input, the final 2016 Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan was adopted by City Council on February 9, 2016.   Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out a survey, attend a public meeting, send in an e-mail, participate in an on-line forum, or testify before City Council.  The plan reflects your input and is stronger for it.

What is the PAR Plan?

The Parks, Arts and Recreation Plan outlines a 20-year vision for parks, arts and recreation. The plan identifies the general location of future parks and open space, and includes a capital investment strategy.

Public Input Received

We had great public participation in the planning process.  143 people attended one or more of the eight neighborhood input meetings that were held 11/12/14 – 1/8/15. There were 119 responses to the online OlySpeaks questionnaire which was open for comment 12/4/14 – 1/9/15. We had 38 people attend the Community Meeting on February 18.  Also, the City contracted with Elway Research Inc. to conduct a Random Sample Survey and 759 people participated.  And over 200 people provided input on the draft plan during the review process Nov-Dec, 2015.
