Permits
9-Hour Parking Permit Program:
This program was developed in response to customers who make multiple trips to and from downtown in one day and find they often overpay parking meters. It has been available as a quarterly permit for nearly 2 years. However, many of our customers have requested that it be made available on a monthly basis.
How does the program work?
Permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis to a program maximum capacity of 150 vehicles. Permits are valid for 9-hour meters only. If you park at a 3-hour meter, you must pay the meter or you will get a ticket. View our parking map online for locations of 9-hour meters.
What is the cost of a permit?
The cost of the permit is now $75 per month. You may purchase up to 3 months at a time. We accept cash, check, Visa/Master Card, or money orders. Please make checks payable to Parking Services.
How do I purchase a permit?
You must register in person at the Parking Services office between the 15th and 30th of each month. Be sure to bring your current vehicle registration with you. When your permit expires, you must re-register or pay the meter.
Will I be notified before my permit expires?
Your window sticker is your only reminder that your permit will expire. Reminder notices will not be sent. If you renew your permit by phone, remember to request a new sticker or to change the date on your old one.
Can I use my permit for my other vehicle?
The Permit belongs to the vehicle, not the driver: If you drive a different vehicle, you must pay the meter. Your vehicle license information is entered into our computer. That is how we know the vehicle is in the program.
I just purchased a new vehicle - can I transfer my permit?
If you're purchasing a new vehicle, stop by our office right away and we'll change your permit. Be sure to bring the new registration with you. There is a $5.00 fee to switch your permit, with a limit of three changes per quarter.
Overtime Permits:
Overtime permits are available at the Parking Services office.
Construction Permits:
Construction Permits are available for $10.00 per space, per day.
Who is eligible?
Businesses who are providing construction services or emergency repairs at a business or home are eligible for overtime construction permits. These permits will be granted for a defined period of time and will be issued by the Parking Services Office. You will need to provide the location where the work is being conducted and the length of time needed.
Disabled Parking Permits:
People with state-issued disabled parking permits may park in the 90-minute FREE area, timed zones, or metered areas. They are exempt from time limits and parking fees.
Service Car Permits:
Service Car Permits are available for businesses who provide an "in and out" type of service, such as florists, restaurants, or travel agencies, where delivery services require several trips throughout the day. Service car permits $150.00 per year.
How it works:
Vehicles with delivery service permits can park in the FREE 90-minute zone for 90 minutes without penalty. They may also park free at 3-hour metered parking spaces for up to 3 hours. Delivery service permits are NOT valid at 15-minute metered spaces, 9-hour metered spaces, loading zones, or any other restricted parking areas.
