Jessica Bateman was elected to a four year term at Position #2 in November 2015. She was reelected in 2019. Her term ends December 31, 2023.
Jessica has over nine years of experience in the public and non-profit sector working in public policy, planning and legislative affairs. In her personal and professional experience, she has consistently partnered with diverse stakeholders and community members to advocate on behalf of issues of the public interest.
Jessica was named a 2018 Advocacy All-Star by the Association of Washington Cities for her work to find solutions for affordable housing and homelessness. She currently works as a health policy associate for the Washington Association for Community Health and previously served as community impact director for The United Way of Thurston County, legislative aide and community organizer.
Before being elected to City Council she served on the Olympia Planning Commission and the board of GRuB, a local nonprofit empowering at risk youth and low-income families. Jessica graduated from The Evergreen State College with an undergraduate degree in Environmental Studies and graduate degree in Public Administration. She loves hiking and lives in the Northeast neighborhood of Olympia with her Husky Moxie.
