Olympic Region Clean Air Agency

The Olympic Region Clean Air Agency (ORCAA) is a local government agency charged with regulatory and enforcement authority for air quality issues in Clallam, Grays Harbor, Jefferson, Mason, Pacific, and Thurston counties. Mayors Forum

The Mayor’s Forum was established in the late 1990s for information discussion and information sharing by Thurston County Mayors and Chairs of other local public agencies.  The group generally meets monthly on the first Friday.  Agencies which are a part of this forum include Thurston County, the Port of Olympia and the Cities of Lacey, Bucoda, Olympia, Rainier, Tenino, Tumwater, and Yelm.

PBIA Liaison (Parking and Business Improvement Area Board)

The PBIA Board was created by the Olympia City Council in January, 2006 with the adoption of Ordinance No. 6375 establishing the Parking and Business Improvement Area (PBIA) for downtown Olympia. The Board recommends an annual work program/budget to the City Council, communicates with ratepayers, and implements improvement projects in downtown Olympia.

Treatment Sales Tax Community Review Committee

Delegate: Scott Ahlf, Municipal Court Judge

This is a sales tax of 1/10 of one percent  approved in 2008 and is scheduled to expire on January 1, 2017.  This tax is designed to improve the quality of life for Thurston County residents with mental illness and/or chemical dependency by reducing their involvement with the criminal justice system.   This social services and law and justice based committee meets to determine how the tax proceeds will be used.

Water Resource Inventory Area Committee (WRIA-11) Nisqually

The City of Olympia has been a long standing participant in Nisqually Watershed Planning. Our primary source of water, McAllister Springs, lies within this watershed. The 1998 legislature passed Watershed Planning legislation (Ch. 90.82 RCW), to set a framework for developing local solutions to watershed issues on a watershed basis. 

The lead agency for the Nisqually River watershed planning effort is the Nisqually Indian Tribe. The Nisqually Watershed Management Plan was adopted in April 2004.
